Sunday thoughts (I): Gay marriage in Spain
This week one big news has made me happy: Spain parliament has approved the law legalising Gay marriage — eventually, a big step towards the end of prejudice and a big step towards an ever more civilized EU. The law takes effect from TODAY. The religious fanatics — at the highest peak of their rage — could only gather 200.000 people in Madrid to demonstrate against the law. The world goes on in spite of them. Zapatero's speech was one of an almost extinct kind of politicians. He is right: this is a law about our life, our friends, to make us happier. And I do feel very happy for my gay friends. Spain is an interesting experiment. Zapatero is giving enthusiasm and guidance to a very dynamic society. In this respect, spain is a winner in Europe.
